Weddings are about 80% of what I do, but the other 20% keeps me sharp: corporate and holiday parties, galas and fundraisers, mitzvahs, school dances and private celebrations. Whatever the event, you get the same thing couples hire me for: a custom set, mixed live, by a performance DJ who reads the room all night and keeps the energy right where it should be.
Corporate and holiday parties
Corporate crowds are a mix of ages, tastes and departments, and the music has to work for all of them. I keep it relaxed while people network, handle the microphones for speeches and awards, and then build the dance floor when it’s time to celebrate. A few I’ve played:
- The 500-guest Farmers Open corporate party at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines
- Holiday parties at the Hilton Garden Inn Santa Barbara Goleta and Eleven14 Craft House and Kitchen
- Hosting karaoke for KPMG’s convention at Disneyland
- The UCSB Materials Department holiday party, two years running

Galas and fundraisers
A gala runs on a program: dinner, speakers, an auction, a band or a dance set, all on a tight timeline. I keep every moment on cue so the evening flows, and I make sure every speech is heard clearly. I DJed the Montecito Motor Classic dinner gala at the Montecito Country Club, benefiting the Santa Barbara Police Activities League and the Santa Barbara Police Foundation.
Mitzvahs and family celebrations
For Hailey’s bat mitzvah, I DJed the party and set up a projector for the slideshow her mom made, full of photos from growing up. Family celebrations like these, plus private parties like an ugly sweater party in Thousand Oaks, get the same planning and custom music as a wedding.
School dances
I’ve also DJed school dances, including one at Loma Vista Elementary School in Ventura. Kids are an honest crowd: if the music’s not working, you know right away, so reading the room matters just as much there.
